Job summary

Hymans Robertson is seeking a Payroll Administrator on a fixed-term basis for our Glasgow office. You will deliver accurate pensioner payroll and cash management services, ensuring timely payments and regulatory compliance.

You will maintain records, handle PAYE deductions, and respond to member queries, while supporting onboarding for new client payroll services. The role requires pensioner payroll experience, knowledge of PAYE and HMRC processes, and strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

• GCSEs/Scottish Standards (Maths and English) or equivalent experience.
• A professional qualification, or equivalent industry experience.
• Experience of pensioner payroll administration and payroll-related systems.
• Knowledge of PAYE, statutory deductions and HMRC monthly and year-end submissions.
• Understanding of pension payroll legislation, regulatory requirements and best practice.
• Experience delivering a high-quality service in a client-focused environment.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills with internal and external stakeholders.
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
• Calm, resilient and accurate under pressure with strong attention to detail.
• Good IT skills and ability to learn new systems quickly.

Responsibilities

• Process pension payrolls accurately and ensure timely pension payments.
• Calculate and apply PAYE deductions and support HMRC submissions.
• Maintain pensioner records including tax code updates and increases.
• Produce and issue pension payslips and member communications.
• Respond to pension and payroll queries from members and stakeholders.
• Reconcile pension payroll bank accounts and support cash management.
• Assist onboarding of new client pension payroll services.
• Maintain records through scanning, indexing and administration.
• Liaise with third-party suppliers, banking contacts and investment managers.
• Contribute to development and improvement of payroll services and processes.
