Job Introduction

We have an exciting opportunity for an Administration Manager to join the BBC Pensions and Benefits Centre, where you will be working.

If you’re experienced in managing a customer service focused administration team – not necessarily pensions – and are looking for the next exciting challenge and opportunity to make a real change, keep reading!

The Pension and Benefits Centre (P&BC) provides in-house administration services to the Trustee of the BBC Pension Scheme. The BBC Pension Scheme (the Scheme) is one of the largest occupational pension schemes in the UK, with around 50,000 members and assets of c£14 billion. The Scheme is functionally independent of the BBC, managed by a small Executive team with operations staff based in Cardiff. The Scheme closed to new joiners in 2010 but remains open for future accrual.

The P&BC also supports the BBC’s other pension arrangements including LifePlan, a contract-based defined contribution scheme administered by Aviva, and the NEST scheme.

Your role will be to lead the administration team in the provision of first-class administration services to members and employees. You will know what great service looks like and how to develop and deploy the people, processes and technology at your disposal to deliver it. You may have pensions experience but that is not essential as full pensions training will be provided. You must, however, know how to manage a team that works remotely most of the time to deliver excellent service to all relevant stakeholders.

Main Responsibilities

Lead the overall delivery of the administration service to Scheme members, employees and other key stakeholders including the Trustee of the Scheme and the BBC by meeting agreed service levels and promoting the continuous improvement of the member experience.
• Effectively lead two teams totalling c12 individuals to deliver an excellent pension administration service to members in accordance with the Scheme Rules, relevant legislation/regulations, agreed service levels and relevant Trustee strategic objectives.
• Support the delivery of other BBC pension arrangements (LifePlan, NEST and others) and life assurance arrangements in accordance with agreed service levels.
• Be responsible for delivering cyclical and ad-hoc administration projects through collaboration with other internal teams and external advisers whilst maintaining agreed business as usual service levels.
• Prepare reports for the pension executive team, BBC and Trustee on administration service levels and relevant issues.
• Respond to any complaints raised under the first stage of the Scheme’s Internal Dispute Resolution Procedure.
• Identify and effectively manage the administration team’s response to changes in priorities and ad-hoc projects as required.
• Monitor member experience, compliance, quality and the efficiency of the administration service through identification of key risk indicators and the development of appropriate management information and other tools.
• Improve member experience, compliance, quality and the efficiency of the administration service through improvements to administration processes and communications.

Are you the right candidate

• Recent experience of leading a service team providing pension administration or similar administration services to a large member/customer base.
• Experience of developing administration strategy and policy for a large defined benefit pension scheme or similar organisation with a focus on member/customer service
• Influencing and relationship management skills.
• Experience of measuring and driving administration performance improvement.
• Able to motivate, coach and develop others to achieve agreed standards and objectives

About the BBC

The BBC is committed to redeploying employees seeking suitable alternative employment within the BBC for different reasons and they will be given priority consideration ahead of other applicants. Priority consideration means for those employees seeking redeployment their application will be considered alongside anyone else at risk of redundancy, prior to any individuals being considered who are not at risk.

We don’t focus simply on what we do – we also care how we do it. Our values and the way we behave are important to us. Please make sure you’ve read about our values and behaviourshere.

Diversity matters at the BBC. We have a working environment where we value and respect every individual's unique contribution, enabling all of our employees to thrive and achieve their full potential.

We want to attract the broadest range of talented people to be part of the BBC – whether that’s to contribute to our programming or our wide range of non-production roles. The more diverse our workforce, the better able we are to respond to and reflect our audiences in all their diversity.

We are committed to equality of opportunity and welcome applications from individuals, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, socio-economic background, religion and/or belief. We will consider flexible working requests for all roles, unless operational requirements prevent otherwise.
