Join a leading healthcare trust as a Band 3 Peer Support Worker, where you will use your lived experience to inspire others on their recovery journey. You will provide essential support to service users, helping them regain control over their lives and achieve personal goals. With a focus on collaboration and empathy, you will work within a dedicated team to promote recovery values and enhance community independence. The role offers flexible working opportunities and is part of a commitment to sustainability and diversity.
An exciting opportunity has developed for a Band 3 Peer Support Worker to join our inpatient, Acute and Urgent Care Directorate.
The role of the Peer Support Worker has been developed specifically for individuals who have lived experience of recovery from mental health challenges and who have effectively utilized their recovery journey within mental health settings, in a Peer Support Worker capacity.
The Peer Support Worker will inspire hope and belief that recovery is possible in others, embedding recovery values within the service settings in which they work, alongside other Trust recovery champions. The post holder will act as an ambassador of recovery for the Trust with external agencies and partner organizations, co-delivering learning and development sessions to external agencies.
Peer support is based on the recognition that there is no better person to support the path towards recovery than someone who has walked the same path as that individual. We actively seek peers who have lived experience of both the criminal justice system and health and social care needs, such as mental health, substance misuse, etc.
The Peer Support Worker will provide formalized peer support and practical assistance to service users to engage with appropriate services, regain control over their lives, and support their recovery process. They will accompany service users through their recovery journey, assisting them when considering initial steps on their recovery path.
Peer Support Workers work collaboratively within teams, engaging with service users to show empathy, share experiences, inspire hope, and promote recovery. The aim is to help service users gain and maintain independence in the community, raise aspirations, and develop personal goals to support increased social capital.
Our Trust remains bold and ambitious, with plans for service and system transformation to improve health and wellbeing through high-quality care. We prioritize our team's wellbeing, offering a range of wellness opportunities, including flexible working.
We are committed to the Greener NHS initiative to become the world’s first 'carbon net zero' health system by 2045. Sustainability is embedded in our strategy, and we have launched the “Proud to be Green” campaign for 2024/2025, aligned with our Green Plan. We support our staff in working towards these sustainability goals for the benefit of service users, the workforce, communities, and the planet.
Our Trust values diversity and inclusion, welcoming applications from all under-represented groups, including women, people with disabilities, individuals from global majority backgrounds, and members of the LGBTQ+ community.
