Job summary

Cambridge University Press & Assessment is seeking a Peer Review Analyst to join our Editorial Operations team. You will develop data dashboards, monitor peer review performance, and translate data into actionable improvements across journals.

You will collaborate with editors, publishing staff and researchers to highlight trends, identify risks and support evidence-based decision making, with hybrid working and flexible arrangements.

Job description

As Peer Review Analyst, you will join our Editorial Operations team and help us use evidence to improve peer review across our academic journals. Your work will support practical innovation, trusted research and Cambridge's global reputation for quality., We are looking for a Peer Review Analyst to help us improve peer review reporting and use data to support better journal workflows. You will join a collaborative journals team and help colleagues make practical, evidence-based improvements that support robust research assessment processes. You will develop data dashboards that help us monitor peer review performance across our journals. You will look for trends, explain what the data means, and recommend actions that help teams improve workflows, manage risks and support good peer review practice. You will also:

• Build and maintain clear peer review reporting that highlights performance, trends and areas where action may be needed.
• Share findings and recommendations with colleagues in editorial, publishing, research integrity and related teams.
• Review journal workflows, identify areas for improvement and follow up agreed actions.
• Create clear guidance and training materials that help editors and colleagues carry out peer review processes well.

This position has been classified as a hybrid role, requiring the selected candidate to typically spend 40-60% of their time collaborating and connecting face-to-face at their dedicated location. You will have experience of working with data, reports and dashboards. You will be able to bring information together, explain it clearly, and use it to support improvements. You will also be organised, collaborative and confident working with different teams. You will be proficient with MS Office tools including Excel. An interest in journals, peer review or academic communication is important, but you do not need to be an expert. Your application will be even stronger if you also have:

• Experience with Power BI or similar business intelligence tools.
• Knowledge of dashboard development, data quality and data governance.
• Knowledge of journal publishing, peer review workflows or academic communication.
• Experience using manuscript submission, peer review or publishing systems, or other operational systems containing large datasets.
• Demonstrable skills in workflow mapping and process improvement methodologies.
• Experience creating guidance or training materials for colleagues or external stakeholders.
