Job summary

South Downs Education Trust is seeking an Apprentice PE Technician at Worthing High School. The role will support PE staff and pupils, with responsibilities including equipment preparation, resource maintenance, and occasional lesson coverage.

The position is a fixed-term contract for 12 months, 37 hours per week, Monday–Friday, with some evenings and weekend open days possible. Initial training to Level 4 School Sports Coach Apprenticeship Standard or equivalent is expected, with GCSE English

  • Experience and knowledge of resources used in PE and school sport (desirable)

Responsibilities

  • Provide general support to staff and pupils within PE, including preparation and maintenance of resources and equipment
  • Occasionally cover a PE/PA lesson when staff are absent
  • Assist with displays and administrative tasks
  • Prepare PE equipment/resources/materials to staff requirements within strict timescales
  • Monitor stock and supplies and maintain records
  • Safely use PE equipment and report damages as appropriate
  • Provide pupil support to access learning activities as directed by the teacher
  • Provide cover for PE/PA staff when absent and ensure lesson objectives are met
  • Assist with supervision of pupils during extracurricular activities and clubs
  • Contribute to learning programmes aligned with the National Curriculum

Accountability Reports to Marie Field - Head of PE

Role description

The primary role is to provide general support to the staff and pupils within PE,

including preparation and maintenance of resources and equipment under the

instruction of senior staff. Additionally there will be occasions, when PE/PA staff are

absent, that you will cover a lessons. Other duties may include exam invigilation

and administrative tasks such as assisting with displays.
