Job summary

Arriva Durham County Limited is seeking a PCV Bus Driver at Whitby depot. Location: Whitby Depot. Pay rates from £14.00 to £16.30 per hour with overtime and additional shift pay.

28–33 days annual leave, pension, and training opportunities available. The role includes 5 out of 7 rotating shifts starting early mornings, with family bus travel benefits within the household. Qualified drivers with 18+ months experience in the last five years start at £16.00 p/h; otherwise £14.00 p/h for six months.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid PCV Licence – non-negotiable.
• No more than 6 points on your licence.
• Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test.
• Excellent customer service and people skills.
• Flexibility to work various shifts.
• If you don’t have a PCV licence yet, apply for our Trainee role and we’ll provide paid training to help you get qualified.

Responsibilities

• Drive PCV buses on assigned routes to serve the community.
• Maintain safety and customer service standards on all journeys.
• Be part of a rotating shift pattern and work across mornings/evenings.

What We Offer:

• Pay Rate £14.00 per hour - £16.30 per hour
• Weekdays £16.00 per hour (must have 18 months experience in the last 5 years)
• Weekends £16.30 per hour (must have 18 months experience in the last 5 years)
• Bank Holiday £40 bonus paid per shift
• Qualified drivers with at least 18 months bus driving experience in the last 5 years will start on £16.00 p/h basic, otherwise the starting rate will be £14.00 p/h for 6 months.

Hours of Work:

5 out of 7 rotating shift patterns, planned up to 6-8 weeks in advance. Mornings starting from 05:00 and evenings finishing around 01:30. Overtime available based on request/availability.
