Job summary

Arriva Northumbria Limited is hiring PCV Bus Drivers at the Ashington depot to keep communities moving. Join a supportive team, work on routes that connect commuters, students and families, and enjoy a stable, customer‑facing role.

The position offers a pay rate of £14.00–£16.45 per hour, rotating 5 days in a 7 day pattern, with 28–33 days leave, overtime, free bus travel for you and your household, pension, CPC training and opportunities for career development.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid PCV Licence (non-negotiable).
• No more than 6 points on your licence.
• Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test.
• Excellent customer service and people skills.
• Shifts may start as early as 4 AM and will not exceed 1 AM, with rotating patterns.

Responsibilities

• Drive PCV bus routes to connect commuters, students and families.
• Maintain safety and reliability on every journey and build rapport with passengers.
• Follow Arriva policies and route schedules to ensure on-time performance.

What We Offer

Pay Rate

Pay Rate £14.00 - £16.45 per hour

• Weekdays £16.00 per hour (must have 18 months experience in the last 5 years)
• Weekends £16.45 per hour (must have 18 months experience in the last 5 years)
• Bank Holiday £30 bonus paid per shift
• *Qualified drivers with at least 18 months bus driving experience in the last 5 years will start on £16.00 p/h basic, otherwise the starting rate will be £14.00 p/h for 6 months.

Hours of Work

5 out of 7 rotating shift patterns, planned up to 6-8 weeks in advance Mornings starting from 05:00 and evenings finishing around 01:30 Overtime available based on request/availability

What We Need From You
