Job summary

Arriva Durham County Limited is hiring a PCV Bus Driver at our Darlington depot, helping keep the community moving, transporting commuters, and supporting school routes with a friendly, professional approach.

The role pays £14.00–£16.30 per hour, with enhanced weekday (£16.00) and weekend (£16.30) rates for drivers with 18 months’ recent experience. Benefits include 28 days annual leave rising to 33, pension, CPC training, and ongoing development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid PCV Licence – This is a non-negotiable requirement.
• No more than 6 points on your licence
• Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test

Responsibilities

• Drive PCV buses and ensure passenger safety and comfort.
• Maintain punctual service and assist passengers with routes and information.
• Build rapport with regular passengers and uphold Arriva service standards.

As a Bus Driver, you’ll build relationships with familiar faces on your routes and even be the highlight of someone’s day. What We Offer:

• Pay Rate £14.00 - £16.30 per hour
• Weekdays £16.00 per hour (must have 18 months experience in the last 5 years)
• Weekends £16.30 per hour (must have 18 months experience in the last 5 years)
• Bank Holiday £40 bonus paid per shift
• Qualified drivers with at least 18 months bus driving experience in the last 5 years will start on £16.00 p/h basic, otherwise the starting rate will be £14.00 p/h for 6 months.

Hours of Work:

• 5 out of 7 rotating shift patterns, planned up to 6-8 weeks in advance
• Mornings starting from 05:0 and evenings finishing around 01:30
• Overtime available based on request/availability

What We Need From You:
