Job description

Purpose of the role

To assess the integrity and effectiveness of the banks internal control framework to support the mitigation of risk and protection of the banks operational, financial, and reputational risk.

Accountabilities

Knowledge of business areas, products, processes and platforms to be able to assess risk Collaboration with various stakeholders across the bank and business units to improve overall control effectiveness through detailed documentation of control assessments, procedures, and findings.

Identification and investigation of potential weaknesses and issues within internal controls to promote continuous improvement and risk mitigation aligned to the bank’s control framework, prioritised by its severity to disrupt bank operations.

Development of reports to communicate key findings from risk assessment including control weaknesses and recommendations to control owners, senior management, and other stakeholders.

Execution of reviews to determine the effectiveness of the bank's internal controls framework aligned to established and evolving policies, regulation, and best practice.

Implementation of adherence to the Barclays Controls Framework and set appropriate methodology of assessing controls against the Controls Framework.

Join us as a PBWM Financial Crime Risk QA to contribute to the governance, oversight and quality assurance of Financial Crime processes across Private Bank & Wealth Management. In this role, you will help review the effectiveness of existing processes, support the consistent application of policies and standards, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement. Working across a range of Financial Crime activities, you will identify themes and opportunities for enhancement through quality reviews, data insights and stakeholder engagement. You will also support the ongoing development of procedures and ways of working, helping to ensure processes remain effective, compliant and fit for purpose. This role would suit someone who enjoys working across different subject areas, can quickly become familiar with new processes, and is motivated by improving quality and customer outcomes.

To be successful as a PBWM Financial Crime Risk QA, you should have experience with:

  • Working within a Financial Crime environment, including Customer Due Diligence (CDD), Financial Crime risk assessment and Financial Crime Customer Lifecycle Standards.
  • Conducting quality assurance, quality control, testing, oversight or assurance activities and reviewing adherence to policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Using review outcomes, management information and data to identify themes, trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Communicating feedback clearly and working with stakeholders to support the consistent application of processes and standards.

Some other highly valued skills may include:

  • Experience within a First Line of Defence (1LOD) Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Testing or Assurance function.
  • Knowledge of PBWM products, business structures and client lifecycle activities, including onboarding, screening, ongoing due diligence and client exit activities.
  • Experience reviewing, developing or maintaining policies, procedures and governance documentation.
  • Interest in process enhancement through data analysis, automation or AI-enabled solutions.
