Job summary

Beaumont College in Lancaster is seeking a PBS Practitioner to deliver high-quality, person-centred Positive Behaviour Support across Salutem Care and Education locations. You will lead functional assessments, co-design PBSPs and build staff capability through coaching and training.

The role aims to reduce restrictive practices while promoting safety, dignity, participation and life skills, working with individuals, families and multidisciplinary teams to provide holistic support.

Responsibilities

• Promote Positive Behaviour Support in Salutem locations, contributing to ensuring high standards of professional, effective and person-centred care delivery to the individuals we support.
• Carry a caseload and hold caseload responsibility as designated and with support from your line manager.
• Complete functional behaviour assessments independently or with support from a qualified peer to identify functions of behaviour and unmet needs.
• Develop clear formulations linking setting events, triggers, skills, reinforcement, and environmental factors.
• Facilitate PBS consultation with locations and staff teams using agreed tools e.g., SBARD.
• Assess risk proportionately and create risk management strategies without defaulting to restriction.
• Co‑produce personalised PBS Plans with the person, family, and staff teams, aligned to personal outcomes and communication needs.
• Design proactive, preventative support strategies: environmental adjustments, strength-based routines, communication supports, and skill-building.
• Ensure any reactive strategies are ethical, least restrictive, time-limited, and reviewed.
• Support the implementation of PBS plans and intervention programmes.
• Integrate trauma-informed, autism-affirming practices where relevant.
• Deliver practical coaching and structured training to staff teams.
• Model data-driven decision making and support teams to record and review behaviour and quality‑of‑life metrics.
• Be part of collaborative assessment processes and support transition and admission planning.
