Job summary

CareED Recruitment is seeking a Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner / Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Surrey. You will support pupils aged 11-16 with Autism Spectrum Condition in a nurturing, structured setting.

Role involves developing PBS strategies, working with pastoral and therapy teams, and building strong relationships with students and families. This is a permanent full-time post based in Effingham.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent).
• Level 3 qualification in working with children and young people.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Interest in supporting autistic and additional learning needs.
• Positive, proactive and consistent approach to behaviour support.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, families and other professionals.

Responsibilities

• Support teachers with day-to-day classroom management and learning activities.
• Develop and implement PBS strategies across the school.
• Support pupils with emotional regulation, communication and behaviours of concern.
• Collaborate with pastoral and therapy teams to provide individualized support.
• Build positive relationships with pupils and families.
• Communicate with parents and carers with the Family Support Officer.
• Support staff training in Positive Behaviour Support.
• Promote a calm, structured and nurturing learning environment.
