Job summary

Ciphr Limited is seeking a Payroll Bureau Trainer to design, deliver, and evaluate payroll training across our bureau services in a hybrid role based around Reading, Berkshire. You will develop induction pathways, learning materials, and coaching support to keep the team up to date with the latest legislation, software capabilities, and service standards.

Qualifications

• Proven payroll expertise with deep knowledge of UK payroll legislation, PAYE, pensions, and statutory requirements.
• Experience working with payroll systems, with strong technical understanding of system capabilities and limitations.
• Excellent coaching and training skills with a track record of upskilling teams and driving behavioural change.
• Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail and the ability to identify patterns and root causes.
• Outstanding communication skills to explain complex compliance matters clearly to varied audiences.
• Experience developing and implementing quality frameworks, standard operating procedures, or process documentation.
• Self-motivated and organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholder expectations effectively.

Responsibilities

• Deliver induction and ongoing payroll training to new and existing bureau administrators, tailoring delivery to individual learning needs
• Design and maintain training materials, guides, e-learning content, and process documentation that stay accurate and easy to use
• Work with our Regulatory Analyst to coach team members on payroll legislation, including PAYE, National Insurance, Statutory Payments, pensions, and RTI requirements
• Assess training needs and identify skill gaps across payroll teams, translating findings into targeted learning plans
• Support payroll system upgrades and deliver the associated training so the team is confident from day one
• Monitor trainee performance and provide constructive feedback working with our Payroll Experience Managers to set clear development plans
• Work closely with Payroll Experience Managers to support employee development and succession planning
• Ensure all training content reflects current legislation and company procedures
• Actively use AI to aid the creation of learning materials in different formats
• Maintain training records and report on training effectiveness to demonstrate impact
