Want to know a little about us?

At Novuna, we care about building a better tomorrow. With a focus on sustainability and a passion for phenomenal customer experiences, we provide consumers and businesses with the capital they need to realize their ambitions.

We're proud to be a Top 50 Inclusive employer. We're a signatory of the Women in Finance and the Race at Work Charter, and we're Disability Confident Committed.

What does the role involve?

Reporting to our Group Payroll Manager, as a Payroll Specialist you'll work as part of our Payroll team to deliver an efficient and effective in-house payroll solution to all Novuna employees.

We've recently implemented a new HR system (HiBob) and payroll system (Dayforce), which have gone live as part of a major project in our HR department. There are still many opportunities to get involved in the new payroll system and processes, where you will help us continue our implementation journey. You'll work in a supportive environment with plenty of opportunities to learn new skills.

Some of Your Key Duties Will Include

  • Delivering the monthly payroll for our 6 payrolls, including UK employees, expats, pensioners, and 3 outsourced international payrolls (Finland, Ireland, Netherlands)
  • Providing support to all Novuna employees by resolving payroll queries professionally and efficiently
  • Calculating manual payments using variable data such as benefits, bonuses, overtime, commissions, sickness/absence, parental payments, pensions, and taxes
  • Ensuring starters and leavers are paid accurately in their first or final month of employment
  • Performing manual tax and NI calculations as required and supporting payroll activities (e.g., P11Ds)

What are we looking for?

You should have a background in a payroll-related role, with exposure to best practices, processes, systems, and payroll legislation. Attention to detail and accuracy are essential, along with the ability to perform complex calculations related to tax codes and net pay.

Also, we're looking for the following

  • Good working knowledge of payroll systems (experience with our new system, Dayforce (Ceridian), or Merca/Darwin, would be a plus)
  • Highly skilled in MS Office Suite, especially Excel (pivot tables and VLOOKUPs)
  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills
  • Good knowledge of pensions and tax regulations

What can we offer you?

At Novuna, we take our people promise seriously. If you join us, you'll have a chance to make a difference, opportunities to learn, and time to shine.

Our benefits include a market-benchmarked salary, an excellent bonus scheme, and additional perks such as:

  • Flexible hybrid working
  • 25 days' holiday, plus bank holidays, with options to buy or sell 5 days
  • A full wellbeing package, including BUPA, digital GP, 24/7 employee assistance, and wellbeing events throughout the year
