Job summary

Hays, in partnership with a leading Top 10 Accountancy and Business Advisory firm, seeks an experienced Payroll Senior in Ipswich. You will own a client portfolio, ensuring accurate and efficient payroll services while mentoring junior staff.

The role emphasizes delivering excellent client service within a collaborative team. You will manage end-to-end payroll processing, stay compliant with payroll legislation, and support colleagues with payroll expertise in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years’ payroll experience, ideally in a bureau or accountancy practice.
• Strong end-to-end payroll processing experience including pensions, statutory payments and benefits administration.
• Ability to manually calculate payrolls with a high degree of accuracy.
• Sound knowledge of payroll legislation, compliance requirements and auto-enrolment regulations.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
• Ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines in a busy environment.
• Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
• Customer-focused approach with experience managing client relationships.
• Experience training or mentoring junior team members.
• Experience handling payroll queries from clients, HMRC and third-party providers.
• Experience using payroll software, STAR experience advantageous.

Your new role

This role would suit a payroll professional looking to take ownership of a client portfolio whilst supporting the wider team with technical expertise, training and mentorship.You will play a key role in ensuring clients receive an accurate and efficient payroll service, whilst helping to maintain high standards across the team.

To be successful in this role, you'll be an experienced payroll professional with a strong understanding of payroll legislation and a passion for delivering outstanding client service. You'll enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and building strong relationships with clients and colleagues alike.
