Job summary

Learn Academies Trust is seeking an experienced Payroll and Pensions Manager to join the People & Culture team. You’ll ensure colleagues are paid accurately and on time, while developing knowledge of education pensions and LGPS.

You will coordinate monthly payroll, work with our payroll provider, and support pension processes. A strong numerical, detail‑oriented approach and confidentiality are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• Experience in payroll administration or closely related finance/HR role.
• Strong numerical skills with careful checking of detail.
• Understanding of confidentiality and data protection in payroll.
• Ability to organise workload and meet regular monthly deadlines.
• Clear communication and helpful, professional service.
• Proficiency with digital systems and spreadsheets (e.g., iTrent).
• Experience with Teachers' Pensions and LGPS is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and check the monthly payroll process.
• Collaborate with our payroll provider to resolve queries and discrepancies.
• Check payroll changes, deductions, and statutory payments.
• Administer and support pension processes.
• Assist colleagues with payroll and pension queries.
• Maintain accurate payroll data in HR/payroll systems.
• Support Teachers' Pensions and LGPS administration.
• Complete routine reconciliations and maintain audit trails.
• Help continuously improve payroll and pension processes.
