TPF Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of a well-established accountancy practice in Canterbury for a Payroll Manager. The role oversees a large payroll department, delivering services to owner-managed businesses while leading a team of payroll professionals.

The successful candidate will manage a varied portfolio and act as a primary client contact, ensuring compliance with payroll legislation and efficient processes. Canterbury-based with scope to influence department growth.

Qualifications

• Substantial payroll experience, ideally in an accountancy practice, payroll bureau or client-focused environment.
• Experience overseeing or supporting payroll team members.
• Strong technical payroll knowledge and understanding of current legislation.

Responsibilities

• Manage a varied portfolio of weekly, fortnightly and monthly payrolls, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Oversee, support and develop members of the payroll team.
• Act as key contact for clients, building strong relationships and addressing payroll queries professionally.
• Ensure compliance with current payroll legislation and manage reporting and submissions.
• Oversee workplace pension and auto enrolment requirements, including assessments and submissions.
• Support development of efficient systems and processes across the department.
• Collaborate with partners and senior management to grow the payroll service.
