Job summary

Spear-heads is recruiting for a Payroll & Credit Control Assistant to join a reputable Durham-based finance team. The role involves processing payroll for multiple companies, pension submissions, and HMRC queries, alongside credit control and sales ledger duties.

You will work under the Accounts Manager and support the year-end process with a focus on accuracy, numeracy and strong Excel IT skills.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of payroll processing including PAYE/NI, pensions, P11D benefits.
• Excellent numeracy and IT skills are essential.
• Methodical and highly organised with accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Process payroll for multiple companies including P11D benefits.
• Handle credit control and sales ledger activities.
• Reconcile PAYE and NI and submit pensions.
• Act as primary HMRC contact for payroll queries.
• Maintain customer accounts and issue sales invoices.
• Support year-end tax processes and ad-hoc requests.
• Cover holiday periods as required.
