Job summary

Pets at Home in Handforth, Cheshire (Hybrid: 1 office day, 4 days WFH) is seeking a Payroll Assistant to join our busy Payroll Team in the Support Office. The role covers payroll for around 9,000 colleagues on a four-weekly cycle, delivering accurate, compliant payroll processing and first-class service.

You will calculate SSP and sick pay, statutory entitlements, deductions, pensions auto-enrolment, and pension contribution reconciliations, while handling P11d processing and new starter checks,

Qualifications

• Previous experience of administering payroll within an office environment is essential.
• You will have a good understanding of current payroll legislation.
• Previous experience of using SAP payroll solution is an advantage but not essential.
• Previous experience dealing with company cars and expenses would be advantageous
• The successful candidate should be well organised, work to a high level of accuracy and have keen attention to detail.
• To ensure we deliver a first-class service, you will need to have strong written and verbal communication skills.
• You will be required to be computer literate in Word, Excel & Outlook.
• You should be an honest and trustworthy individual who is able to comfortably handle confidential information & adherence to GDPR legislation.

Responsibilities

• Part of team processing timely, compliant, and accurate payroll for c9000 vet practice colleagues on a four-weekly basis across a number of payrolls.
• Calculating SSP and Company sick pay entitlements.
• Calculating statutory entitlements.
• Processing AOE and CSA deductions.
• Processing P45s and New Starter Checklists.
• Assessing colleagues for inclusion into the company pension scheme in line with auto-enrolment.
• Reconciliation of pension contributions files prior to submission to the pension provider.
• Query management and resolution to deliver first-class service to our colleagues.
• Support the processing of P11d returns using 3rd party software.
