Job summary

Heybridge Associates Ltd, Keighley, is seeking a dedicated Payroll Assistant to join and support a busy payroll department within an established accountancy practice. You will manage a varied client portfolio, process regular payrolls, and handle RTI submissions while developing payroll expertise in a friendly team.

This role offers full-time or part-time hours with a competitive salary, generous holiday entitlement, pension scheme and ongoing training to support career progression.

Qualifications

  • Previous payroll experience, ideally gained within an accountancy practice or payroll bureau environment.
  • Good working knowledge of payroll legislation and HMRC requirements.
  • Confident using payroll software; IRIS Staffology Payroll experience is advantageous but not essential.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Process weekly, fortnightly, four-weekly and monthly payrolls for a varied portfolio of clients.
  • Calculate statutory payments including SSP, SMP, SPP and ShPP.
  • Process new starters and leavers accurately and within required timescales.
  • Manage pension submissions and auto-enrolment requirements.
  • Submit Real Time Information (RTI) returns to HMRC.
  • Respond to payroll queries from clients and employees.
  • Produce payslips and payroll reports.
  • Assist with year-end payroll procedures, including P60s and P11Ds.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Support the wider team with ad hoc office duties as required.

We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a well-established and growing accountancy practice based in Keighley, who are looking to appoint a Payroll Assistant to join their busy payroll department.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous payroll experience who enjoys working with a varied client portfolio and is looking to develop their career within a friendly and supportive accountancy practice.

What We're Looking For
