Job summary

Office Angels in Yeovil, Somerset is seeking a Payroll Assistant to manage a portfolio of payroll clients and ensure accurate, on-time processing. The role supports colleagues and liaises with HMRC and pension providers as needed.

The position offers 30–37.5 hours per week with flexible core hours (10:00–16:00) and flexi time, plus benefits including 25 days plus Bank Holidays and Free Parking. CIPP Level 3 progression is supported where applicable.

Qualifications

  • Previous payroll administration experience.
  • Strong understanding of payroll legislation and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Confident communication skills and a professional telephone manner.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritise workloads effectively.
  • Strong IT skills and experience using payroll software.

Responsibilities

  • Processing weekly, fortnightly and monthly payrolls for a variety of clients.
  • Setting up new payroll clients and HMRC accounts.
  • Processing starters, leavers and payroll amendments.
  • Submitting RTI reports to HMRC.
  • Issuing employee payslips and payroll summaries to clients.
  • Managing auto-enrolment pension submissions and reconciliations.
  • Calculating and reconciling PAYE payments and Attachment of Earnings Orders.
  • Liaising with pension providers regarding client schemes.
  • Responding to payroll-related queries from clients and HMRC.
  • Ensuring compliance with payroll legislation and filing deadlines.
  • Supporting colleagues across the wider team as required.
  • Assisting with administrative duties, system updates and general office support.
  • Providing clients with up-to-date information on payroll legislation changes.

Salary: 28,000 - 31,000 PA DOE

Hours: 30-37.5 hours, Monday to Friday flexible dependant on the candidate. The company also offers flexi time with 10-4 being the core hours

The Role

To be successful in this role, you'll ideally have:
