Job summary

Owen Gardner Talent is assisting an established accountancy and advisory firm in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, to recruit a Payroll Administrator. The role supports a dedicated payroll team, handling weekly, fortnightly and monthly payrolls for multiple clients with attention to accuracy and compliance.

The successful candidate will manage starters/leavers, statutory payments, auto-enrolment, RTI submissions and year-end duties, while delivering excellent client support and maintaining data

Qualifications

  • Previous payroll administration experience, ideally within an accountancy practice, bureau environment or multi-client setting.
  • Strong understanding of UK payroll legislation and HMRC requirements.
  • Experience processing multiple payrolls simultaneously.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Good communication and client-facing abilities.
  • Experience using payroll software and Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Process weekly, fortnightly and monthly payrolls for a diverse client portfolio.
  • Administer starters, leavers and payroll amendments.
  • Calculate statutory payments including SSP, SMP, SPP and SAP.
  • Manage pension auto-enrolment processes and submissions.
  • Process PAYE, National Insurance and other statutory deductions.
  • Prepare and submit RTI returns to HMRC.
  • Liaise with clients to resolve payroll queries.
  • Ensure payroll records are accurate and compliant with legislation.
  • Support year-end payroll activities, including P60 production.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee data.

Key Responsibilities
  • Processing weekly, fortnightly and monthly payrolls for a diverse client portfolio
  • Administering starters, leavers and payroll amendments
  • Calculating statutory payments including SSP, SMP, SPP and SAP
  • Managing pension auto-enrolment processes and submissions

  • Preparing and submitting Real Time Information (RTI) returns to HMRC
  • Liaising directly with clients to resolve payroll queries
  • Ensuring payroll records remain accurate and compliant with current legislation
  • Supporting year-end payroll activities, including P60 production
  • Maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive employee data appropriately
The Person

Desirable
  • Payroll qualifications (CIPP or equivalent)
  • Experience with pension auto-enrolment administration
  • Previous experience working within an accountancy practice
