ARAG is inviting applications for a Payroll Administrator to join our HR team on a 12-month or 18-month secondment. You will help deliver accurate payroll across the organisation, collaborating with the HR and Payroll Services Manager and Senior Payroll Officer.

Key duties include payroll processing, employee support, compliance and reporting, and pensions/benefits administration. The role involves RTI submissions and yearly reporting with a commitment to data accuracy and confidentiality.

Qualifications

  • Essential MS Office experience including Word/Excel.
  • Numerate and analytical with ability to identify trends in data.
  • Good verbal reasoning skills.
  • Good written communication skills.
  • Able to work on own initiative and follow instructions.
  • Desirable Payroll experience (not essential).
  • Possibly working towards payroll qualification (CIPP).
  • Intermediate Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, what-if, conditional formatting).

Responsibilities

  • Payroll Processing: assist in monthly payroll calculations and input data accurately within deadlines.
  • Employee Support: respond to payroll queries and provide guidance on payslips, deductions, pensions and processes.
  • Compliance & Reporting: support HMRC compliance, RTI submissions, year-end activities and statutory reporting.
  • Pensions and Benefits Administration: assist with auto-enrolment and payroll benefits changes.

Ready to take the next step in your career? ARAG is offering an exciting opportunity for an internal colleague to join our HR team, in a critical role within the business.

We are hiring for 2 positions for a 12-month and an 18-month secondment.

The Payroll Administrator is responsible for supporting the delivery of an accurate, compliant, and efficient payroll service for employees across the organisation. Working closely with the HR and Payroll Services Manager and Senior Payroll Officer, the role ensures payroll data is processed correctly and within agreed deadlines, whilst providing a high level of customer service to employees and managers.

Key Responsibilities include:
  • Payroll Processing
  • To assist in monthly payroll calculations, input payroll data accurately and within defined time scales to ensure staff are paid accurately and on time.

  • To update monthly all related payroll information and HR systems

    Process payroll related changes accurately and within agreed deadlines, including starters, leavers, contractual changes, absences, overtime and statutory payments.

    Maintain accurate employee payroll records and ensure payroll data is updated promptly and correctly.

Employee Support
  • Respond to payroll-related queries from employees and managers in a professional and timely manner.

    Provide guidance on payslips, salary payments, deductions, pensions and payroll processes.

    Escalate complex payroll issues to the Senior Payroll Officer or Payroll Manager where appropriate.

Compliance & Reporting
  • Support compliance with HMRC legislation, payroll regulations and internal policies.

    Assist with RTI submissions, year-end activities and statutory reporting requirements.

    Produce payroll reports and management information as required.

Pensions and Benefits Administration

Support the administration of pension schemes, including auto-enrolment processes and employee communications.

  • Assist with salary sacrifice arrangements and payroll-related employee benefits. Process pension and benefit changes accurately and within required timescales.
