Job summary

A leading construction organization is seeking an experienced Payroll Administrator to manage payroll processing and reporting. This permanent role in West Midlands offers the flexibility of three days in the office and two days remote work. Ideal candidates will have a solid understanding of payroll legislation and strong Excel skills. The position includes managing payroll cycles, pension reporting, and ensuring compliance. A collaborative work environment is emphasized.

Qualifications

  • Solid experience and understanding of payroll processes, procedures and current legislation.
  • Strong Excel skills, with the ability to analyze and present data effectively.
  • Good technical knowledge of pensions, including regulations and Auto-Enrolment requirements.
  • Confidence in communicating clearly with both internal colleagues and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Managing the end-to-end processing of weekly and monthly payroll cycles.
  • Coordinating pension reporting, including monthly and annual reconciliations.
  • Handling statutory returns and benefits reporting.
  • Reviewing and approving expense claims.
  • Keeping up to date with changes in payroll legislation.
  • Ensuring all employee data is managed securely.
  • Acting as a point of contact for external providers.
  • Investigating and resolving payroll issues.
  • Organising and prioritising daily tasks.
  • Identifying and suggesting improvements to enhance efficiency.
  • Building strong working relationships across teams.
  • Supporting senior colleagues during meetings.

We are recruiting for a permanent Payroll Administrator role with a West Midlands based Construction organisation.   • Duration: Permanent
  • Location: West Midlands (3 days office / 2 days remote)
  • Hours: Full-time (37 hours, Monday – Friday)
Responsibilities
  • Managing the end-to-end processing of weekly and monthly payroll cycles, ensuring accuracy and meeting strict deadlines
  • Coordinating pension reporting, including monthly and annual reconciliations, and processing changes for new starters, leavers and transfers
  • Handling statutory returns and benefits reporting, ensuring compliance at all times
  • Reviewing and approving expense claims in line with company policy and regulatory requirements
  • Keeping up to date with changes in payroll legislation and applying this knowledge to maintain compliance
  • Ensuring all employee data is managed securely and in accordance with data protection standards
  • Acting as a point of contact for external providers and relevant authorities, resolving queries in a timely and professional manner
  • Investigating and resolving payroll issues, escalating complex cases where appropriate
  • Organising and prioritising daily tasks to meet service delivery expectations and deadlines
  • Identifying and suggesting improvements to enhance efficiency and strengthen internal processes
  • Building strong working relationships across teams and contributing to collaborative success
  • Supporting senior colleagues during meetings and assisting with wider team initiatives and projects
