Job summary

Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) is seeking a Patient Porter to transfer patients safely within hospital settings, using walking aids, wheelchairs, stretchers, or beds. You’ll support the portering service via the HIVE system and a two‑way radio network to ensure efficient patient movement and specimen transport.

• Experience in healthcare or logistics environments is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Transfer patients safely between wards and departments using walking aids, wheelchairs, stretchers or beds.
• Use HIVE task management system and two-way radios to coordinate activity within the portering service.
• Convey blood specimens and patient notes/x-rays to the pathology department as required.
• Move deceased bodies to the mortuary and assist in viewing in absence of mortuary staff.
• Assist in moving patients after hours (20:00–08:00) and support transfers to theatres as needed.
