Job summary

Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a dedicated Porter to join the portering team at the Chesterfield site. You will handle patient and equipment movement across the hospital, working on a 37.5 hour per week contract and a shift pattern that may include weekends and evenings.

Full UK driving licence is required for waste collection duties and you will join a supportive NHS environment. GCSEs in Maths and English are required, and prior hospital experience is desirable.

Qualifications

• GCSE Maths and English or equivalent are required.
• Experience in a hospital environment is preferred.
• Ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team.
• Full UK driving licence is required for waste collection vehicle operations.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients and visitors between departments and wards.
• Transport patients and equipment to various areas of the hospital.
• Assist with transfers to the mortuary and other transfer duties as required.
• Clean and manage waste collection equipment and storage areas.
• Collect and distribute stores, medical gases, laundry and notes; deliver blood products from Pathology.
