University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting for a Band 2 Patient Porter. The role involves assisting in moving patients, equipment and post throughout the hospital on a 24-hour rotating shift pattern.

Responsibilities include ensuring safety, infection control, and supporting discharge transport as part of a busy clinical support team. The job emphasises teamwork, courteous service, and compliance with Trust policies.

Competenze

• Basic literacy and numeracy are required.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Able to deal with the public and work under pressure.
• Full Driving Licence is required.
• Organisational skills (sorting post) and attention to detail.
• Previous experience in a healthcare environment is desirable.
• Health and safety awareness is important.

Mansioni

• Work in a safe, courteous and confidential manner following Trust policies.
• Be in designated place of work from shift start to end and follow the planned schedule.
• Wear supplied uniform and comply with infection control policy.
• Respond to tasks allocated by Portering supervisors or Helpdesk Controller.
• Assist patients into wheelchairs and onto beds for transport.
• Move patients and equipment around the hospital as directed.
• Assist with discharge transport and accompany patients to exit points.
• Transfer deceased patients to the mortuary and assist with mortuary duties and viewing.
