Job summary

Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an administrative role within the Respiratory Medicine Service. The post holder will provide high-standard, efficient and comprehensive support to clinical teams and manage all elements of the patient pathway in line with the Trust’s Elective Access Policy.

They will become familiar with outpatient pathways and RTT status codes, work within the wider administrative team and alongside clinical staff to deliver high-quality patient care

Responsibilities

  • Provide primary administrative support to all clinical staff, primarily consultants, and all patients under their care, including diary administration, correspondence support and other administrative duties as required.
  • Act as a first point of contact on the telephone and by email for patients, relatives, GPs and any other relevant agencies, answering or re-directing queries in a timely manner, as appropriate.
  • Use Trust digital transcription systems to produce high-quality clinical correspondence to inform referrers, patients and other relevant parties of patient pathway progress within local and national target timeframes.

Job overview

The purpose of this role is to provide high standard, efficient and comprehensive support to clinical teams within the Respiratory Medicine Service. The post holder is responsible for managing all elements of the patient pathway in line with the Trust’s Elective Access Policy. They will become familiar with different outpatient pathways and referral to treatment (RTT) status codes. The post holder is expected to work within the wider administrative team and alongside clinical staff to deliver a high standard of patient care and proactively contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of the service.

Main duties of the job
  • Provide primary administrative support to all clinical staff, primarily consultants, and all patients under their care, including diary administration, correspondence support and other administrative duties as required.
  • Act as a first point of contact on the telephone and by email for patients, relatives, GPs and any other relevant agencies, answering or re-directing queries in a timely manner, as appropriate. Similarly, responding to queries from elsewhere in the Trust, for example, the Patient Contact Centre, and ensuring these agencies are informed of any changes to local processes.
  • Use Trust digital transcription systems to produce high-quality clinical correspondence to inform referrers, patients and other relevant parties of patient pathway progress within local and national target timeframes.
