Job summary

NHS Scotland is seeking a Catering Assistant for University Hospital Ayr. This permanent role covers 14.25 hours per week with shifts including weekends.

The post is based in a busy hospital kitchen and focuses on patient meal service, food safety, and efficient delivery of meals to patients and staff. You will join the Catering Production and Services Team, supporting plating, distribution, cleaning, and maintaining hygiene standards in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Good communication skills and a flexible approach in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience in catering or food service is advantageous.
• A current Food Hygiene Certificate is desirable; training can be provided if not held.

Responsibilities

• Assist with plating and distribution of patient meals.
• Support food preparation, meal service, wash-up duties and cleaning tasks.
• Maintain food safety standards and contribute to efficient kitchen operations.
