Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is seeking a Support Services Assistant (Catering) to join the Catering Team at Leverndale Hospital. You will assist with meal preparation, assembly and distribution for patients, staff and visitors, ensuring safe handling and high standards of hygiene.

The role runs 19.26 hours per week, Monday to Friday 12:00–16:00, with training in basic food hygiene, COSHH, health & safety and infection prevention.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of catering services and food service delivery (full induction provided)
• Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (training provided)
• Knowledge of Health & Safety procedures (training provided)
• Knowledge of COSHH regulations (training provided)
• Knowledge of moving and handling principles (training provided)
• Knowledge of infection prevention and control practices (training provided)
• Training in the safe use of catering and cleaning equipment
• Understanding of food hygiene legislation and HACCP principles
• Ability to work within established procedures and timescales
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Full driving licence essential for function delivery driver duties only

Responsibilities

• Support provision of patient, staff and visitor catering services, including preparation and assembly of meals
• Distribute food items and provide specialist dietary requirements
• Ensure food received, stored, prepared, regenerated and served in line with HACCP and food safety legislation
• Maintain HACCP records and stock rotation procedures
• Operate catering equipment safely and uphold high food hygiene standards
• Follow Health & Safety and Board policies; contribute to safe, efficient service
• Perform cleaning duties and report equipment faults; collaborate with colleagues across departments
