Job summary

Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a Food Services Assistant to join the ward-based catering team. You will serve meals to patients, help with menu choices, and ensure hygiene and safety in ward kitchens.

Responsibilities include assisting nurses and dietitians, providing beverages, and maintaining stock and cleaning schedules. Training provided, Level 2 food hygiene certificate required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of cleaning and hygiene COSHH procedures
• Knowledge of HACCP principles in food service
• Knowledge or understanding of patient food service practices

Responsibilities

• Serve patients meals, portions and accompaniments and offer second portions when needed
• Inform patients about the food options and take orders on electronic devices
• Co-operate with nurses, caterers and dietitians to meet nutritional needs and dietary requirements
• Provide hot and cold drinks at least five times daily and ensure water is available for each patient
• Clean ward kitchen surfaces, equipment, floors and dishwashers to schedule and keep records
• Store and move food following safety guidelines and instructions
