Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is seeking a passionate engagement specialist to develop and drive patient and family involvement across Community Paediatrics, CAMHS and Acute Paediatrics.

You will collaborate with the PEPI team to ensure the voices of children and carers inform service planning, design and improvement, with a focus on inclusive participation and person-centred care.

Qualifications

• Degree level qualification or equivalent experience.
• Significant experience in community engagement or public involvement.
• Knowledge of Patients’ Rights (Scotland) Act 2011.
• Experience designing engagement plans and stakeholder mapping.
• Experience in training design and delivery.
• Understanding of quality improvement methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Support engagement across Community Paediatrics, CAMHS and Acute Paediatrics.

The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Specialist Children’s Services (SCS), NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, to support the development of patient engagement and experience across Community Paediatrics, CAMHS and Acute Paediatrics. The post holder will play a key role in ensuring that children, young people and families are involved in shaping services, with a strong focus on partnership working, participation and person-centred care. Working closely with the Patient Experience and Public Involvement (PEPI) team, you will help place the voices of children, young people, parents and carers at the heart of service planning, design and improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the Patient Experience and Public Involvement Manager, the post holder will support Specialist Children’s Services in meeting its statutory responsibilities for public engagement and participation. The role involves designing, delivering and evaluating engagement activities with children, young people, families, carers and communities; providing expert advice and guidance to staff and clinical teams on best practice engagement approaches; supporting service improvement through patient and carer feedback; developing and delivering training programmes; producing reports and analysing engagement data; maintaining strong partnerships with stakeholders, voluntary organisations and community groups; leading on innovative digital engagement approaches; contributing to social media and communication initiatives; and ensuring that engagement activities are inclusive, transparent and aligned with relevant legislation, policies and quality improvement frameworks.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job

• Degree level qualification or equivalent experience.
• Significant experience working in a community engagement, participation or public involvement role.
• Knowledge of the Patients’ Rights (Scotland) Act 2011 and Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act 2015.
• Understanding of legislative, policy and statutory requirements relating to community engagement and participation.
• Experience of developing and implementing engagement plans, stakeholder mapping and consultation processes.
• Knowledge of a range of engagement methods, tools, techniques and evaluation approaches.
• Experience of designing, facilitating and delivering training programmes.
• Understanding of quality improvement methodology and its application within service development.
• Knowledge of equalities and human rights legislation and best practice.
• Experience of analysing and reporting on qualitative and quantitative data.
• Experience of performance management and measuring outcomes against strategic objectives.
• Understanding of project management principles.
• Strong IT skills and proficiency in software packages relevant to the role.
• Excellent written, verbal, presentation and facilitation skills.
• Ability to communicate complex information clearly to a variety of audiences.
• Strong interpersonal, influencing and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and work to tight deadlines.
• Commitment to continuous personal and professional development.
• Ability to travel throughout NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.
