Job summary

Progressive GP Group of Practices is seeking a Patient Co-ordinator to be the first point of contact for patients. You’ll listen, guide, reassure and help patients access the right healthcare professional or service.

No healthcare experience? We can teach you the systems and processes. You will develop transferable skills and have opportunities for career progression within Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.

Qualifications

  • GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent).
  • Experience in a customer-facing role.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Commitment to delivering excellent service.

Responsibilities

  • Be the first point of contact for patients contacting the practice.
  • Help patients access the most appropriate healthcare service.
  • Manage appointment requests and bookings.
  • Provide excellent customer service both over the phone and face-to-face.
  • Support patients with enquiries and administrative requests.
  • Create and maintain accurate patient records.
  • Process correspondence and documentation.
  • Work closely with GPs, nurses and other healthcare professionals.
  • Help ensure patients receive a safe, efficient and positive experience.
  • Every day is different, and every interaction matters.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Patient Co-ordinator, you’ll be at the heart of our patient services team.

You'll
  • Be the first point of contact for patients contacting the practice
  • Help patients access the most appropriate healthcare service
  • Manage appointment requests and bookings

  • Support patients with enquiries and administrative requests

Hours

20 hour post on Monday PM, Wednesday AM, Thursday PM and Friday AM

What We’re Looking For

You don’t need healthcare experience.

We’re particularly interested in hearing from people with customer service backgrounds in:

  • Retail
  • Hospitality
  • Customer service
  • Reception
  • Contact centres
  • Front-of-house roles
You’ll Be
  • A confident communicator
  • Comfortable speaking with people on the phone
  • Compassionate and patient-focused
  • Organised and able to manage multiple tasks
  • Comfortable using computers, email and Microsoft Office
  • Calm under pressure
  • Keen to learn and develop
Essential
  • GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience in a customer-facing role

Desirable
  • Experience within a GP surgery or healthcare setting
  • Knowledge of EMIS or patient record systems
  • Administration experience
