Job summary

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Catering Assistant to support wards, departments and the hospital restaurant. You will prepare and serve meals to patients, staff and visitors, while strictly following food hygiene standards.

Responsibilities include recording meal information, cleaning catering areas and equipment, and greeting customers in a friendly, professional manner. A sound grasp of food hygiene principles is essential.

Qualifications

• Reasonable level of numeracy and literacy in English.
• Knowledge of the principles of effective food hygiene.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve food from ward menus following portion control and presentation instructions.
• Record all information relating to the food service as required.
• Clean catering areas, vending equipment, light equipment and utensils to the cleaning schedule or as directed.
• Keep a safe and hygienic environment for all users of the service.
• Greet patients and customers in a friendly, professional manner.
• Demonstrate product knowledge when enquiries are made.
