Job summary

Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is inviting applications for a Patient Care Advisor to join the Contact Centre team at Northumbria House, Newcastle Upon Tyne. The role offers full- or part-time options with flexible working, 37.5 hours per week, and a salary of £25,760–£27,476 per year (pro rata for part-time).

The role focuses on delivering an efficient, accurate service for patients and engaging with staff across outpatient, inpatient, and diagnostic booking services.

Qualifications

• 5 GCSEs grade 4-9 (A*-C) including Maths and English.
• Level 3 qualification or equivalent workplace experience.
• Extensive administration and / or customer service experience.

Responsibilities

• Be the primary contact for patients and staff, ensuring accessible information.
• Engage via phone and email with Trust staff, including secretaries, ward clerks, receptionists, and clinicians.
• Communicate with other departments and external teams such as GP and other hospitals.
• Attend meetings (in person or virtual) with Trust staff, including managers and clinicians.
• Work collaboratively with department members to support patient care.
• Manage workload according to the rota while prioritising tasks.
• Implement changes to clinic schedules and inform patients empathetically.
• Support timely patient scheduling in line with local and national standards.
