Job summary

Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust seeks a Pathology Admin & Clerical Site Lead (12mth Fixed Term) to manage the pathology administration service across Bedford site. You will supervise the administration office, central specimen reception and secretarial services, coordinating activities with departmental teams.

You will implement policies, navigate UKAS and regulatory requirements, and provide PA/administration support to pathology departments, while ensuring high-quality patient

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day running of the Pathology Administration Service.
• Line manage staff in Pathology administration, Central Specimen Reception and Secretarial service.
• Coordinate administrative activities with departmental teams.
• Implement policies and procedures to comply with UKAS standards, national and European legislation and regulators.
• Provide PA/Administration support to the Pathology Departments.
• Communicate at all levels with patients, medical colleagues, healthcare professionals, labs and external suppliers.
• Support staff recruitment, development and performance within the department.
• Maintain personnel records including annual leave and sickness records and conduct staff appraisals.
• Record and populate Health Roster for Consultant Pathologists’ annual, study and sick leave.
• Assist with procurement of goods and services for the department.
