Job summary

Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Pathology Admin & Clerical Site Lead (12-month fixed term) to run the pathology administration service at Bedford Hospital. The role includes line managing staff, coordinating central specimen reception, and ensuring PA/Administration support to pathology departments.

You will implement policies, maintain patient information securely, and liaise with clinical and external partners to deliver a high standard of service.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths completed.
• Diploma level or higher preferred.
• Demonstrable experience in Pathology Laboratory environment.
• Experience of working in an office environment.
• Teaching or training experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan, manage and prioritise time for Pathology Office and related teams.
• Assist with rostering for administration and secretarial staff.
• Ensure continuity of key services during staff absences.
• Liaise with Consultants, medical staff, and external partners.
• Assist recruitment in line with Trust policies.
• Maintain personnel records, annual leave and training records.
• Record and populate Health Roster for consultants' leave.
• Support procurement of goods and services for the department.
