PAT Test Engineer

Department: Field Team

Location: Hertfordshire

Compensation: £27,000 / year

Description

We are looking for PAT Test Engineers to join our team, working from a home base in the Hertfordshire / Bedfordshire area and surrounding areas. The role involves inspecting and testing portable appliances on commercial sites including facilities management, retail, commercial, education and local authorities. You will use our bespoke testing software and may suggest improvements. Work is organised regionally; overtime and weekend work may be required depending on client access.

Key Responsibilities

• Carrying out portable appliance testing across a range of commercial sites
• Completing minor remedial works where required
• Producing accurate test reports to be quality checked by our Technical Manager
• Working closely with the Technical Manager and Operations team
• Using our bespoke testing software designed for speed and efficiency
• Working across facilities management, retail, commercial, education and local authority sites
• Helping identify ways to improve testing software and processes

Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise

• A recognised electrical qualification or equivalent PAT testing qualification, preferably as a time‑served tester
• Proven experience testing through and through
• A proven ability to work safely in accordance with company policies and safety legislation
• Dedication to keep up to date with current legislation and undertake training as required

Salary and Benefits

• Basic salary of £27,000
• Bonus of £0.15 per item for 325+ items, rising to £0.25 per item for 375+ items, and £0.35 per item for 425+ items
• Overtime paid at £0.40 per item from the first test for weekend work and hours over 40 per week
• All visual tests count as half an item for bonus and overtime purposes
