Job summary

Teaching Personnel Ltd. is recruiting a Pastoral Support Officer to help shape young lives in Birmingham. You will join a school's pastoral team supporting students across KS3/KS4, promoting attendance, wellbeing and positive behaviours, while liaising with staff, parents and external agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Build positive relationships with students across KS3 and KS4
  • Support attendance, behaviour and student wellbeing
  • Work one-to-one and in small groups with students who need additional support
  • Help students develop confidence, resilience and positive attitudes toward learning
  • Liaise with teaching staff, parents and external agencies as appropriate
  • Promote positive behaviour and help students overcome barriers to education
  • Support safeguarding procedures and contribute to a safe school environment

Teaching Personnel is working with a number of welcoming and inclusive secondary schools across Birmingham who are looking to appoint dedicated Pastoral Support Officers from September 2026.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young people and wants to make a lasting impact on their education, wellbeing, and future success.

Your Role

As a Pastoral Support Officer, you'll be a key member of the school's pastoral team, providing guidance and support to students who may need additional encouragement to reach their full potential.

No two days are the same, and you'll play a vital role in creating a positive, safe and supportive learning environment.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Building positive relationships with students across KS3 and KS4
  • Supporting attendance, behaviour and student wellbeing
  • Working one-to-one and in small groups with students who require additional support
  • Helping students develop confidence, resilience and positive attitudes towards learning
  • Liaising with teaching staff, parents and external agencies where appropriate

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
