Job summary

CHS South is seeking an Assistant Pastoral Leader to join Prospere Learning Trust in Manchester. The role supports a year group with attendance, wellbeing and behaviour, working closely with staff, families and external agencies to help pupils thrive.

You will contribute to safeguarding, records and proactive pastoral care, while maintaining high standards of behaviour and attendance. The post is full-time, term-time plus one week, with an indicative starting salary of £26,403 and pro-rata

Qualifications

• Numeracy and literacy skills equivalent to NVQ Level 2.
• Experience of working with or caring for children of a relevant age.
• The ability to relate well to children and adults.
• The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• A basic understanding of child development and learning.
• An understanding of the role of support staff and other professionals in helping students fulfil their potential.
• A flexible, proactive and positive approach.
• A commitment to equality, diversity, safeguarding and continuous professional development.
• The ability to use initiative, exercise sound judgement and respond appropriately to challenging situations.

Responsibilities

• Provide an identified year group of students with outstanding support and guidance.
• Address attendance, behaviour, pastoral and welfare concerns.
• Work collaboratively with school staff, families and external agencies.
• Help provide attendance, punctuality, behaviour and other pastoral information to governors and staff.
• Maintain a high profile around the school and promote high standards.
• Offer practical support, mentoring and guidance to students.
• Liaise with parents and carers to support attendance, learning and wellbeing.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to reports and data analysis.
• Take a lead role in supervising pupils and managing a positive learning environment.
• Support break, lunchtimes, detentions and strategic behaviour interventions.
• Contribute to safeguarding and the protection of all pupils.
