Long Term Futures Ltd. is seeking a confident and proactive Pastoral Mentor to join a secondary school in Birmingham. You will support pupils with behaviour, engagement, and wellbeing, building trust with students while maintaining professional boundaries.

The role involves working with Heads of Year and the pastoral team, handling incidents, and communicating with parents. A full-time long-term position offers stability within the academic year.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with secondary-aged pupils in a UK school or similar setting.
• Strong behaviour management skills.
• Excellent at building trust and rapport with young people.

Responsibilities

• Support Heads of Year with the day-to-day pastoral needs of pupils.
• Respond to behaviour incidents and remove disruptive pupils from lessons when required.
• Build strong, trusting relationships with students while maintaining clear professional boundaries.
• Support pupils to reflect on their behaviour and make more positive choices.
• Managing challenging situations calmly and confidently.
• Recording and reporting behaviour incidents accurately using the school's systems.
• Contacting parents and carers by telephone to discuss behaviour, attendance, or pastoral concerns.
• Completing administrative duties relating to behaviour, attendance, and pupil support.
• Supporting pupils during periods of reflection, intervention, or time away from mainstream lessons.
• Communicating effectively with teaching staff, Heads of Year, senior leaders, and families.
• Following the school's safeguarding and behaviour policies at all times.
