Job summary

AWD Online is seeking a dedicated Pastoral Mentor to support students in a busy secondary school in Hedge End. This term-time, full-time role centers on guiding students academically, socially and emotionally while upholding safeguarding standards.

You will work with the pastoral team, monitor progress, and coordinate support with parents and external agencies. DBS checks are required, with a commitment to safeguarding and wellbeing.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance on academic, social, emotional and behavioural issues.
• Develop positive relationships and provide individual mentoring that supports confidence and self-esteem.
• Monitor attendance, punctuality and wellbeing, identifying concerns and supporting early intervention.
• Manage student behaviour within the year group in line with school policies.
• Liaise with year heads, teachers, support staff, parents/carers and external agencies to coordinate student support.
• Support the development and implementation of year-group curriculum plans, policies and procedures and help ensure smooth day-to-day running.
• Deputise for the Year Head in their absence.
• Analyse student data, track progress and wellbeing, maintain confidential records and contribute to reports and support documentation.
• Attend year-group and pastoral meetings and contribute to a positive, inclusive environment.
• Follow relevant health and safety regulations, agreed codes of practice and required training.
