Job summary

Ashley Park School, part of Outcomes First Group, seeks an experienced Pastoral Coordinator to join the Senior Leadership Team in Epsom. Lead pastoral provision, champion trauma-informed care and ensure pupils’ wellbeing, resilience and engagement in learning.

Work with Headteacher, therapists and staff to create a safe, inclusive environment where every pupil thrives. Start: September 2026; Permanent; Term Time Only; UK applicants only.

Qualifications

  • Experience leading pastoral provision or pupil wellbeing within education or specialist settings.
  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed practice and restorative approaches.
  • Ability to coach, support colleagues, and build relationships with pupils and families.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the school's pastoral and behaviour support strategy.
  • Champion trauma-informed, relational and restorative approaches; coach colleagues.
  • Support pupils to develop emotional regulation and positive behaviours.
  • Analyse behaviour, attendance and wellbeing data to identify trends and improve outcomes.
  • Provide guidance during challenging situations and support learning.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, families and external agencies for joined-up support.
  • Build strong relationships with parents and carers; promote home-school consistency.
  • Act as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead; contribute to safeguarding culture.
  • Contribute to whole-school improvement and pastoral practice development.

Job Title: Pastoral Coordinator

Location: Ashley Park School, Epsom, Surrey KT18 7LR

Hours: 37.5 hours per week | Monday to Friday | 8am - 4pm

Salary: Up to £29,000 per annum (depending on experience, not pro rata)

Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only

Start: September 2026

This is an exciting opportunity to lead our pastoral provision, helping pupils overcome barriers to learning, develop resilience and build the confidence they need to thrive both in school and beyond. Working closely with the Headteacher, Senior Leadership Team, therapists and teaching staff, you'll champion trauma-informed practice, positive behaviour support and pupil wellbeing, ensuring every child receives the personalised support they need to achieve their potential. What You’ll Do


  • Lead and develop the school's pastoral and behaviour support strategy, creating a positive, inclusive environment where every pupil can flourish.

  • Champion trauma-informed, relational and restorative approaches, coaching and supporting colleagues to deliver consistent, high-quality pastoral care.

  • Support pupils to develop emotional regulation, resilience and positive behaviours that enable them to succeed in school.

  • Analyse behaviour, attendance and wellbeing data to identify trends and implement strategies that improve pupil outcomes.

  • Provide guidance and support during challenging situations, helping pupils successfully regulate and return to learning.

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, families and external agencies to ensure every pupil receives joined-up, personalised support.

  • Build strong, positive relationships with parents and carers, promoting consistency between home and school.

  • Act as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, contributing to a strong safeguarding culture across the school.

  • Contribute to whole-school improvement, mentoring colleagues and supporting the ongoing development of pastoral practice.

Ashley Park School is a brand-new independent specialist school in Epsom, Surrey, for autistic young people aged 5–19, with a capacity for 60 pupils. We provide a safe, supportive, and inspiring environment where every pupil can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Personalised teaching, differentiated lessons, and tailored therapeutic support ensure each pupil’s unique needs and abilities are met.
