Job summary

Colmore Education Recruitment Ltd is partnering with a mainstream secondary school in Dudley to recruit a Pastoral Support Officer. This role focuses on student wellbeing, behaviour, and engagement with learning across KS3/KS4, working with Heads of Year and safeguarding leads.

You will build relationships with students, staff and families, monitor attendance and behaviour, and support interventions for vulnerable students. Immediate or September start available.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with young people (school, youth work, care, or similar setting).
  • Strong behaviour management skills and resilience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and wellbeing practices (or willingness to train).
  • A genuine commitment to supporting young people’s development.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver proactive pastoral support to students across KS3 and KS4.

Pastoral Support Officer – Secondary School (Dudley)

Location: Dudley, West Midlands

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Contract Type: Full-time / Term-time only (long-term with potential to go permanent)

Start Date: Immediate or September start available

About the Role

We are working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive mainstream secondary school in Dudley that is looking to appoint a committed Pastoral Support Officer. This is a key role within the school’s pastoral team, focused on supporting students’ wellbeing, behaviour, and engagement with learning.

You will work closely with Heads of Year, SEN staff, and safeguarding leads to ensure all students receive the guidance and support they need to thrive both academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver proactive pastoral support to students across KS3 and KS4
