A reputable recruitment agency is seeking a Passenger Assistant in Kirklees to support children with special educational needs during transport. The role involves ensuring passenger safety, assisting with boarding, and liaising with parents and schools. Candidates must have experience caring for individuals and be willing to undergo First Aid training. Enhanced DBS check is required. This position offers a pay rate of £12.85 per hour.
Passenger Assistant
Location: Kirklees
Pay: £12.85 per hour (PAYE)
Contract: Temporary
Hours: Split shifts (usually from 7:30am–9:30am and then from around 3:30pm–5:30pm)
Sanctuary Personnel is looking for a dedicated Passenger Assistant to join the team in Kirklees, supporting children with special educational needs and day care clients on their journeys to and from school or day centres.
As a Passenger Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and comfort of passengers. You’ll work closely with drivers and contribute to a smooth and efficient transport service, responding to both physical and medical needs where required.
Ensure the safety and wellbeing of passengers during transport
Monitor transport contracts (e.g. timetables, licensing, performance) and report concerns
Assist with safe boarding/disembarking and operate doors, ramps, lifts, and restraints
Administer basic first aid or emergency medication if necessary (e.g. Buccal Midazolam)
Liaise with schools, parents, and care settings
Clean and maintain hygiene standards following exposure to bodily fluids
Protect sensitive personal information in line with GDPR
Work flexibly across routes within Kirklees (travel expenses to meeting points are not reimbursed)
Experience caring for children or adults
Experience providing support and assistance
Willingness to work with service users with mobility restrictions or challenging behaviour
First Aid certificate (or willingness to undergo training)
Flexibility in working hours and vehicle types (taxi/coach)
Enhanced DBS and barred list check (required)
Understanding of policies, regulations, and health & safety
Experience monitoring performance or carrying out inspections
