Job summary

West Sussex County Council is seeking a Passenger Assistant to support safe transport of vulnerable children and adults across multiple locations, with base at Clapham Depot near Worthing. You'll help ensure a safe, friendly travel environment and support seating, belts and wheelchair equipment.

This casual role offers flexible hours and varies by demand, with DBS check and safeguarding obligations. You will work with drivers to deliver dependable services to families and schools.

Qualifications

• Interacting with passengers to support wellbeing and safety.
• Ability to fasten seat belts and assist with seating.
• Good communication with drivers, schools and parents.
• Willingness to work across multiple locations as required.

Responsibilities

• Travel to and from schools and venues in minibuses, cars and taxis to transport passengers safely.
• Ensure passengers board and alight safely and are secured during transit, including wheelchairs and boosters.
• Coordinate with drivers and other passenger assistants to ensure smooth journeys.
• Convey health and wellbeing information between schools and guardians.
