Job summary

JAM Recruitment Ltd is seeking a detail‑driven Parts and Service Manager to oversee stock control for a specialist vehicle fleet in Oxfordshire. You will manage parts movement, defects logging, and maintenance scheduling to keep downtime to a minimum and fleet availability high.

The role emphasizes accurate admin, strong organisation, and effective supplier communication as the team supports fast-growing client operations across multiple industries.

Qualifications

• Strong computer literacy with inventory control systems for stores/parts operations.
• Knowledge of vehicles and some mechanical experience or parts management is ideal.
• Stores experience in a mechanical/garage environment or similar.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with limited supervision.
• Strong communication skills for invoice queries and supplier setup.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety at Work Act principles, including safe lifting up to 20kg.
• Full, valid UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Manage the stock control process including ordering, allocation and parts in/out to reduce time off the road.
• Log defects into the Vehicle Management System to keep records up to date.
• Generate daily reports on vehicles that are off road or have issues.
• Ensure MOTs, servicing and preventative maintenance are booked to meet KPIs.
• Oversee parts ordering, supplier engagement and procurement through clear communication.
• Support coach building work streams and coordinate parts for ongoing work.
• Run parts storage and stocktaking with correct allocation to vehicles.
• Manage return and disposal of unused parts and surcharges.
• Set up new supplier accounts and source required products.

This permanent Parts and Service Manager role in Kidlington supports a specialist vehicle fleet across Oxfordshire. Working with a reputable client, the post-holder manages stock control — ordering, allocation and parts movement — to reduce vehicle downtime. They log defects into the Vehicle Management System, produce daily reports on off-road vehicles, and ensure MOTs, servicing and preventative maintenance stay on schedule. What you''ll be doing:

• Manage the stock control process-ordering, allocation, and parts in/out to reduce time off the road
• Keep vehicle records up to date by logging new defects efficiently into the Vehicle Management System
• Generate daily reports on vehicles that are off road or have significant issues
• Ensure MOTs, preventative maintenance and servicing are booked correctly to meet KPIs and maintain hire availability
• Oversee parts ordering, supplier engagement and timely parts procurement through clear communication and negotiation
• Support coach building work-streams and help coordinate parts required for ongoing work
• Run parts storage and stocktaking-booking items in and allocating them to the right vehicles
• Manage the return and disposal process for parts no longer required, including items with surcharges
• Set up new supplier accounts and source required products

What you''ll bring:

• Strong computer literacy-comfortable using inventory control systems for stores/parts operations
• A good knowledge of vehicles, with some mechanical experience or prior parts management experience viewed as ideal
• Stores experience in a mechanical/garage/motor factors environment (or comparable)
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work effectively with limited supervision
• Strong communication skills, with confidence handling invoice/account queries and setting up new suppliers
• Knowledge of Health and Safety at Work Act principles, including safe manual handling (capacity to lift products up to 20kg)
• A full, valid UK driving licence
