Job summary

St Joseph's Catholic Primary School is seeking a Teaching Assistant to support pupils with special educational needs and disabilities. The role focuses on building children's confidence, independence and access to learning, particularly for those with complex communication, emotional, sensory or regulation needs.

The post is part-time and term-time only, with ideal flexibility to support after-school clubs as the school expands.

Qualifications

• Teaching Assistant qualification or comparable relevant experience.
• Experience of, or a genuine passion for, supporting children with SEND.
• Excellent communication, literacy and numeracy skills.
• Nurturing, patient and adaptable approach.
• Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with children.
• Understanding that behaviour can be a form of communication; respond calmly.
• Commitment to developing children's independence.
