Job summary

Vision for Education Ltd. is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support a group of children with additional needs in a DL6 area primary school. The role is part-time, Wednesday to Friday, with an immediate start and potential for long-term extension depending on school needs.

The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher to provide individualised support, helping pupils access learning, build confidence and develop independence in a nurturing environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 3 qualification or above in Teaching and Supporting Learning.
• Previous experience supporting children with additional needs in a primary school is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide consistent support to help children access classroom learning and activities.
• Support children with their individual learning needs and targets.
• Help children remain focused and engaged during activities.
• Support communication, social development, confidence and independence.
• Provide reassurance, encouragement and emotional support throughout the school day.
• Support classroom routines and transitions.
• Foster positive behaviour and help children develop strategies for managing challenges.
• Adapt activities and resources to help children access learning.
• Encourage participation in age-appropriate learning and activities.
• Collaborate with the class teacher and wider school team to ensure consistent support.
