Job summary

St Christopher’s Hospice in South East London is seeking a Store Assistant Manager for our West Wickham shop. This part-time role (21 hours per week) involves leading a team of volunteers, opening and closing the store, and delivering excellent customer service in a busy retail environment.

You will oversee stock from donations to display, manage pricing and merchandising, and work with the Store Manager to ensure smooth daily operations across a 7-day rota. Training and support are provided.

Qualifications

• You’ll have good experience in a busy, hands-on environment and can work at pace.
• You’ll have experience in a customer facing environment delivering high service levels.
• Retail experience is desirable but not essential; management or supervisory experience is advantageous.
• You should have strong people skills and the ability to lead volunteers.
• You should be able to problem solve and work under pressure while being self-motivated.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all areas of our stock journey from sorting to display.
• Sort, price and display donations and assist customers with sales.
• Supervise a team of volunteers and ensure a welcoming environment.
• Handle opening and closing responsibilities and store operations.
