Sheridan Maine is recruiting an experienced Accountant to oversee day-to-day finances for a small group of SME businesses. The role is hands-on, covering sales and purchase ledgers, cash management, and month-end close, with a focus on accuracy and timely reporting.
The position is part-time (20–25 hours per week), office-based in Solihull, with a pro-rata salary around £40,000 FTE. Flexible temporary or temp-to-perm arrangements may be considered.
20-25 hours per week | Ideally across 4 days £40,000 FTE | 100% office based
We're looking for an experienced, hands-onAccountantto take responsibility for the day-to-day finances of a small but professional group of SME businesses.
The employer is also open to considering temporary or temp-to-permanent arrangements for this role.
This is very much a hands-on finance role. The majority of your time will be spent looking after the transactional side of the accounts, including sales ledger, purchase ledger, banking and cash management. However, you'll also need the experience to take those accounts through month end and put together management accounts.
It's a great opportunity for someone who enjoys the variety and ownership that comes with working in an SME environment and wants to remain close to the day-to-day numbers rather than move into a more technical or commercially focused accounting role.
You'll need solid, hands-on experience across both transactional finance and month end.
You could currently be working as a Senior Finance Assistant, Assistant Accountant, Accountant, Accounts Officer or similar. What matters most is that you're equally comfortable getting involved in the everyday detail of purchase ledger, sales ledger and banking as you are pulling everything together at month end.
This probably won't suit someone looking to step away from transactional finance into a purely management accounting or analytical role. Equally, you'll need more than ledger-only experience, as you'll be expected to confidently take the accounts through month end.
Experience within an SME, owner-managed business or multi-company environment would be particularly useful.
The role is part-time, around 20-25 hours per week, ideally spread across four days, whichcould work particularly well for someone wanting to work school-friendly hours or simply looking for a better balance.
The position is 100% office based in Solihull.
Salary: £40,000 FTE, pro rata depending on agreed hours.
You are required to be eligible to work in the UK full time without restriction.
